Police arrest two suspects for defiling minors in Kebbi
Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly defiling minors in separate incidents in Zuru and Birnin Kebbi.
Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
He said that on August 27, a 10-year-old girl, Vina Shehu of Bedi in Zuru Local Government Area, was allegedly lured into a room and assaulted by one Amos Jondo Maliki.
In another case on September 6, a five-year-old girl, Nana A’isha Aminu Wala of Goribbu area, Birnin Kebbi, reportedly went to buy sweets when a 48-year-old man, Mansuru Sani, allegedly lured her into his shop and assaulted her.
The CP said detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, investigated the cases, and the suspects have since been arraigned in court.
He commended the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Junaidu Bello Marshall, for ensuring swift prosecution, while reassuring residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups.
Sani urged parents to monitor their children closely and report any suspected cases of abuse to the police without delay.
