Police arrest two suspected cultists, recover pistol in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two men suspected to be members of a cult group for allegedly being in unlawful possession of a firearm.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the suspects, aged 34 and 35, were apprehended at Alaba-Rago in the Ojo area of the state.

According to Hundeyin, the arrest followed credible intelligence received on July 11, prompting operatives to swiftly move in and detain the duo. A semi-automatic pistol was recovered during the operation.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are members of a cult group. They are currently assisting investigators with information aimed at tracking down other members of the gang and recovering additional weapons,” Hundeyin said.

The police reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying efforts to curb cult-related activities and illegal possession of firearms across Lagos State.
