Police Arrest Three Suspected Cultists, Recover Firearm In Lagos
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious cult group and recovered a firearm and ammunition in an intelligence-driven operation in the Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspects — Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon — were apprehended along the Owode-Ikorodu axis following a credible tip-off.
According to a statement on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the arrests were the result of a coordinated tactical operation carried out by one of the Command’s tactical teams.
Recovered during the operation were a locally fabricated pistol and six live cartridges.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are active members of a cult group reportedly involved in a series of violent crimes across Lagos.
“The suspects played key roles in facilitating the movement and distribution of illegal firearms across various parts of Lagos State, posing a serious threat to public safety,” the statement read.
Efforts are underway to locate and arrest other members of the group believed to be operating in different parts of the state.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, in line with due process and the rule of law.
“Upon the conclusion of the investigation, the arrested suspects will be charged to court in accordance with due process and the rule of law,” the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, emphasized the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on cultism and criminality.
He urged Lagos residents to support the police by providing timely and accurate information to aid in ongoing security efforts.
