The Imo State Police Command has apprehended three people found in possession of arms and allegedly attempting to breach public peace.

According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, who issued a press statement, the arrests were carried out in separate operations.

The police spokesperson narrated that on July 29, at about 3 pm, a student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Florence Chinenyenwa Okoye, reported that she was violently threatened by a 25‑year‑old man, Reuben Casmir Chibuike, who resides at Kings Lodge, Umuokomoche Nekede, and hails from Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State.

Okoye further narrated that, upon receiving the report, police operatives tracked and arrested the suspect. A search at his residence led to the recovery of one locally made pistol, and the suspect confessed to being a member of the Aiye Confraternity.

According to the command’s spokesperson, the suspect has been transferred to the Anti‑Cult Unit for detailed investigations and will be arraigned in court.

In a related development, on July 26, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad intercepted a 32‑year‑old man, Stanley Uzoma, of Ohekelem Umudim, Ngor‑Okpala LGA, during a stop‑and‑search operation at Agbala along Aba Road. A locally made pistol was also found in his possession, which he claimed to have picked up from the roadside.

In another operation, the Rapid Response Squad, while conducting a stop‑and‑search along the Owerri–Port Harcourt Road, apprehended a 28‑year‑old man, Paul Nnamdi, of Akaezeukwu, Ohaozara in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State.

Okoye revealed that the suspect was carrying a large sack and attempted to flee on sighting the police but was eventually arrested after a hot chase. On searching the bag, a cut‑to‑size pistol was recovered.

The suspects, according to the police spokesperson, will be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reacting to the development, commended the officers for their prompt actions and urged the public to continue providing useful information to aid security efforts.
