Police arrest suspected motor vehicle thieves in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected motor vehicle thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, and issued to DAILY POST.
He said the development formed part of the command’s efforts to combat motor vehicle theft and ensure the safety and security of lives and property in Kano State.
According to him, “police recovered a stolen Hyundai Elantra motor vehicle on 18th August 2025, at about 4:16 pm.”
He explained that the report of the theft was received through the command’s emergency number from a female resident of Badawa Quarters. The ash-coloured 2011 model Hyundai Elantra had been parked outside the North Field Montessori Academy premises in Nasarawa GRA, Kano, where it was stolen.
Following a meticulous investigation and coordinated intelligence-led operation, the vehicle was traced and recovered in Zaria, Kaduna State, on August 23, 2025.
Kiyawa also disclosed that the ccommand recovered a stolen Pontiac Vibe motor vehicle after a report of theft was lodged on August 5, 2025.
He said the suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigations, while the vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners.
