Police arrest four over attack on Emir Sanusi’s palace in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with Sunday’s disturbance at the Kofar Kudu palace residence of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, said the suspects are currently in custody and under investigation.
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has set up a panel to probe the incident and identify all those involved.
According to Haruna, the arrests were made following the attack linked to supporters of the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who allegedly targeted the palace gate and disrupted public peace.
While details of the suspects have not been released, the police assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals connected to the violence.
“We are treating the matter seriously. Investigation is ongoing, and more arrests may follow,” the police spokesperson stated.
The command also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as the situation is being handled to prevent further escalation.
