Police Arrest 580 Suspects, Rescue 30 Victims In Kaduna – Commissioner

Police Arrest 580 Suspects, Rescue 30 Victims In Kaduna

The Kaduna Police Command has announced the arrest of over 580 suspects for various crimes, rescued no fewer than 30 kidnapped victims and recovery of stolen properties as well as illegal weapons across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, who made this known during a press briefing held at the Command’s headquarters in Kaduna on Tuesday, said the feat was achieved between December 31, 2024 and January 2025.

According to CP Rabiu, the command has been working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents and their properties, and has been collaborating with sister security agencies and the community to achieve this goal.

“We have been working closely with the community and other security agencies to ensure that Kaduna State is safe and secure for all residents,” the Commissioner said.

Police Arrest 580 Suspects, Rescue 30 Victims In Kaduna

The CP added that some of the notable successes recorded by the command include the arrest of two notorious kidnappers’ informants – Inusa Ibrahim and Hamisu Musa, who were caught making phone calls to suspected bandits, providing them with names of individuals targeted for kidnapping in their village.

He continued that operatives of the command also arrested two notorious motorcycle snatchers, Ibrahim Abubakar and Surakatu Usman, who used a sledgehammer to attack their victims and steal their motorcycles.

In addition, he said the command recovered 16 motorcycles and three tricycles from the suspects, and arrested their receiver, Yahya Muhammad.

According to him, the command also rescued 23 kidnapped victims, who were abducted by a gang of armed bandits in Kajuru Local Government Area.

CP Rabiu attributed the successes recorded by the command to the relentless efforts of his officers and men, the cooperation of well-meaning residents, and the support of security stakeholders across the state.

“I want to thank my officers and men for their hard work and dedication to duty, and also thank the residents of Kaduna State for their cooperation and support,” CP Rabiu said.

The Commissioner of Police also warned criminal elements that Kaduna State was no longer a safe haven for them, while urging citizens to remain law-abiding and support the police by providing timely and credible information.

“Security is a collective responsibility, and together, we can build a safer and more peaceful Kaduna State,” Rabiu said.

He also thanked the Inspector General of Police for his confidence in him and his team, and appreciated the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his continuous logistics and moral support to the command.

The CP said, “From December 31, 2024, to date, the Kaduna State Police Command has recorded significant successes in our fight against crime.

“Through intelligence-driven operations, synergies with the sister security agencies and collaboration with Communities to achieve safety and security, we have recorded tremendous successes and we are to showcase some of our achievements.

“Arrest of over 580 suspects for various offences, including:20 suspected kidnappers, 320 suspected phone snatchers, 32 suspected armed robbers, 5 Car thieves, 13 motorcycle snatchers,
10 suspects involved in rape cases, 23 receivers of stolen goods

“Other achievements include the rescue of over 30 kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families, Recovery of stolen properties and illegal weapons, including 34 stolen motorcycles, 10 stolen motor vehicles, 1 submachine gun, 4 AK-47 Rifles, 2 Pistols, 28 rounds of live ammunition with 5 magazines, 52 rustled cows 4 Sledge Hammers and’ 20 Bags of Dried leaves suspected to be weeds.”

“On February 10, 2025, officers from the Gadar Gayan Outpost based on credible intelligence, tracked down and arrested two suspects namely, Inusa Ibrahim (18) and Hamisu Musa (18), both of Kangimin Gobirawa Village who were caught making phone calls to suspected bandits, providing them with names of individuals targeted for kidnapping in their village.

“Since my assumption of duty in Kaduna State, my primary focus has been ensuring the safety and security of all residents and their properties. I want to assure the good people of Kaduna State that the state is safer, and we are working tirelessly to sustain and improve the security situation across every nook and cranny of the state.” ENDS.
