Police Arrest 30,313 Suspects, Recover 1,984 Arms, 23,250 Ammunition In 2024
The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that it arrested 30,313 suspects in 2024 for their involvement in a variety of crimes across the country.
The NPF also revealed progress in crime fighting during the reviewed year, which included the rescue of 1,581 abducted victims, the recovery of 1,984 different firearms, and 23,250 rounds of ammunition of various calibre.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, made the revelation at a strategic meeting with senior Nigeria police personnel on Tuesday.
The gathering, which was held at Force Headquarters Abuja’s Goodluck Ebele Peacekeeping Hall, provided a forum for discussing the Force’s accomplishments in 2024 and laying out strategic plans for innovation and adaptability as the Force gets ready for the challenges of the upcoming year.
The IGP praised the efforts and commitment of police officers all year long, especially the noteworthy achievements in crime prevention and community involvement, and emphasised the value of teamwork in building public confidence in the police.
He included that the Force will focus on technological and operational innovation in 2025, learning from past mistakes and adjusting as necessary.
Senior officers were also urged by the IGP to adopt cutting-edge techniques and modern instruments that improve the Force’s efficiency in both combating crime and investigation.
The IGP restated the NPF’s dedication to enhancing public-police cooperation, maintaining security, and cultivating an accountability culture.
