The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 20-year-old man, Idowu Abdullahi, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing items valued at N105,000.

Abdullahi, who reportedly has no fixed address, is facing charges of felony and stealing.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on June 16, at Olayinka Street, Ajara-Topa in Badagry.

Ekpo told the court that the defendant allegedly broke into the workshop of one Sunday Avoseh through a window with the intention to steal.

He said Abdullahi stole an auxiliary hanger worth N35,000 and a motor battery valued at N70,000 — both items belonging to the complainant.

The defendant was reportedly apprehended and later handed over to the police for prosecution.

Ekpo noted that the offences contravene Sections 308 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Abdullahi pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Chief Magistrate A.J. Aina granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum. He added that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed.

The case was adjourned until July 30 for mention.
