Police Approve Burial Of Anambra Children Found In Freezer
Parents of three children murdered and kept in a freezer in Anambra State can now bury the corpses of their minors.
The Anambra State Police approved the request of the bereaved to lessen their grief pending the outcome of the medical investigation.
On February 2, the victim’s mother, Chikazor Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, had gone to work only to return to an empty apartment.
Reports said she called her children’s names—a boy and two girls aged between five and nine—and could not tell their whereabouts until she checked the freezer after a long search.
The children were discovered in the freezer, thereby sparking outrage in Nnewichi, a community in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of the state.
The culprits, according to reports, are yet to be found.
Issuing an update on the case, the Anambra State Police Commissioner, Ikioye Orutugu, assured “the family of swift police action when necessary, pending the outcome of the medical findings to complete the ongoing investigation.”
The CP further stated that the command is working diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
“Given the above, the command wishes to state that the details of the investigation are still incomplete and urged Ndi Anambra and all concerned to be patient and seek continuous cooperation from the community/area to provide justice for the victims and their families,” the police said.
