Philippines Arrests Celebrity Pastor Apollo Quiboloy On Sex Crime Charges

Philippine authorities have arrested Apollo Quiboloy, a well-known evangelist preacher, on charges of sex trafficking and sexual abuse.
Quiboloy, who boasts a massive following in the country and refers to himself as the “owner of the universe” and “appointed son of god,” has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
“Apollo Quiboloy has been caught,” Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. said on his Facebook page, without specifying how or where he had been.
The arrest comes after Quiboloy was listed on the FBI’s “most wanted” list for separate charges of sex trafficking and bulk cash smuggling in the United States.
According to reports, Quiboloy’s church, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, has a great influence in the Philippines, with many high-ranking politicians and officials attending his services.
Over 2,000 police were deployed last month to search a sprawling compound in the southern city of Davao owned by Quiboloy’s church, on suspicion that he was hiding there in a bunker.
Quiboloy’s close relationship with former President Rodrigo Duterte has also raised questions about the extent of his influence and power.
