Petroleum Marketers Reaffirm Commitment to Market Stability, Applaud FG’s Reform Agenda

A high-powered delegation from Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector met with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, to express continued support for the federal government’s reform policies and discuss strategies for a resilient energy market.

The delegation, led by Mr. Abdulkabir Adisa Aliu, Chief Executive Officer of Matrix Energy, included industry heavyweights such as Yakubu Maishanu, Chairman/CEO of AYM Shafa Ltd, and Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, CEO of A.A. Rano.

According to a statement issued by Mohammed Manga, Director of Information and Public Relations on Friday, the stakeholders reaffirmed their “commitment to market stability, expanded private investment, and continued support for the federal government’s reform agenda.”

At the heart of the discussions were the positive economic outcomes of recent policy decisions, notably the removal of petrol subsidies. The marketers noted improvements in domestic supply chains, exchange rate stabilisation, and a visible reduction in pump prices across the country.

“The marketers noted that collectively, their companies now supply nearly 20 million litres of petrol daily, without fiscal burden on the government,” Manga stated. “This underscores the effectiveness of private sector-led distribution.”

The delegation praised the government’s supportive policy framework and emphasised the need for sustained regulatory clarity to deepen investor confidence and ensure seamless operations within the sector.

Looking to the future, the marketers also reiterated their readiness to accelerate investments in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure, aligning with Nigeria’s energy transition goals and efforts to diversify its energy mix.

Mr. Edun, while commending the operators, lauded their “leadership and resilience,” acknowledging their central role in maintaining energy security and driving inclusive economic growth.

“He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to fostering a stable policy environment that encourages private investment and drives inclusive development in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement added.

This meeting, the ministry noted, highlights the growing synergy between public and private stakeholders in the oil and gas space—an alliance considered vital in delivering a “more competitive, resilient, and forward-looking energy market for all Nigerians.”
