Peter Obi no threat to APC – Edo Commissioner, Ohonbamu

Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohonbamu, has said the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi is no threat to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Monday, Ohonbamu said Obi poses no serious challenge to the ruling party, citing what he described as a lack of political structure and coherent strategy.

“Peter Obi is the least of our worries. APC can’t be threatened because of Peter Obi. What is he going to do differently as Peter Obi? What will he even do when he becomes president? He will just tell you, ‘Let me get there first,’ with no clear blueprint of what he wants to do,” Ohonbamu said.

He also linked Obi’s political style to that of a character described by a renowned Russian author, implying indecision and lack of depth.

He also questioned Obi’s political strength in his own region, noting that the Labour Party has limited control in the South-East.

“From where he is from, they only have a governor in Abia. APC has two governors in the region, and it is well represented. Imo and Ebonyi are APC states, Enugu remains PDP, and Anambra is controlled by APGA. So where is Peter Obi’s dominance?” he added.

According to Ohonbamu, Obi’s political movement is “struggling in error” and lacks the stand to pose a genuine threat to APC’s position nationally.
