‘Persona Non Grata’ – Israel Bans UN Chief Guterres From Entering Country

Israel has banned the United Nations (UN) Secretary General, Antonio Guterres from entering the country over failure to “unequivocally condemn” Iran’s missile attacks on the country.

Israel’s foreign ministry in a social media post on Wednesday, said, “Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel, as almost every country in the world has done, does not deserve to step on Israeli soil.”

The post also said Mr Guterres neither condemned and denounced the October 7 massacre and sexual atrocities committed by Hamas, nor declared Hamas a terrorist organisation.

“A Secretary-General who gives backing to terrorists, rapists, and murderers from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and now Iran-the mothership of global terror-will be remembered as a stain on the history of the UN.

“Israel will continue to defend its citizens and uphold its national dignity, with or without António Guterres,” the post read.

Iran had on Tuesday, deployed hypersonic missiles, with an estimated speed of 10, 000mph, into Israel, as the tension in the Middle East continues to mount.

The attack is the second attack in the past seven months, as Iran hopes to avenge the killing of top Hezbollah and Hamas leaders by Israeli forces.
