PDP Governors Hail Party’s Victory In Osun LG Poll
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, has hailed the outcome of Saturday’s Osun State local government election.
The PDP won all the seats in the 30 local government areas in the state.
In a statement on Sunday the Director General of the PDP Governors Forum, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, the governors described the party’s victory at the poll as a resounding endorsement of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership and developmental strides across the state.
While congratulating Adeleke and the people of Osun on the successful conduct of the poll, the forum commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) for ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
The Forum added that the outcome of the poll has affirmed that power resides with the people.
It noted that the Osun people have once again demonstrated their support for the quality governance provided by the PDP in the state.
The Forum said the outcome of the election was more than just a political victory, stressing that it was a referendum on Governor Adeleke’s leadership and the trust the people have in his administration.
“The Forum applauds the PDP for its victorious outing at the polls. It is a well-deserved victory after a good fight, both for Governor Adeleke, the PDP, Osun State, democracy, and the indisputability of good stewardship in public service,” the statement said.
The Forum noted what it described as the massive transformation projects, capacity development initiatives, and grassroots empowerment programmes undertaken by Adeleke’s administration, particularly for youths and women.
The governors expressed confidence that the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors would align with the governor’s vision for development and deliver the dividends of democracy to their respective communities.
The governors urged the elected local government officials to be magnanimous in victory and work towards fostering peace and unity in Osun State.
“Governor Adeleke must ensure that the newly elected chairmen and councillors entrench a culture of tolerance and peace to consolidate the unity that the people of Osun State currently enjoy,” the statement added.
The Forum also commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) for conducting what it described as a credible, transparent, and fair election.
“We commend OSIEC for ensuring that the integrity of the electoral process was upheld. By today’s wrap-up of activities, it stands proven that the voice of the people has been honored,” the Forum stated.
It also expressed appreciation to the people of Osun State for their overwhelming support for the PDP, calling their massive turnout at the polls a demonstration of true democracy.
“This is democracy in action. The people have taken their destinies into their hands by reaffirming their trust in our great party,” the governors said.
The Forum urged PDP leaders and supporters across the country to remain steadfast in upholding the principles of democracy, fairness, and good governance.
It noted that the Osun council election outcome serves as a testament to the PDP’s popularity and credibility in delivering impactful leadership.
