PCNG Seals Deal To Deploy Mini Fueling Stations Nationwide

The Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) has signed a deal to fast-track the deployment of CNG mini-fueling stations across Nigeria. Experts are optimistic that the move will transform the country’s transportation landscape.

The development follows moves by the federal government to push for the adoption of CNG as a cheaper alternative fuel.

In a fresh development, PI-CNG disclosed that it has entered an arrangement to drive CNG penetration.

PCNG said, “In a landmark move to accelerate Nigeria’s clean energy transition, we today formalized strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders for the deployment of CNG mini fueling stations and cutting-edge equipment nationwide.

“The signing ceremony marks a critical step in realizing the Federal Government’s vision for affordable, sustainable, and safer energy alternatives for Nigerian motorists and transport operators.”

As of late 2024 and early 2025, over 100,000 vehicles have been converted to run on CNG.

The PCNG aims to convert one million vehicles across Nigeria by 2027.

To achieve this, experts believe that the country needs at least 1,000 conversion centres and refuelling stations across Nigeria.

A renewable energy and gas expert, Adelanke Dayo-Adepoju said, “This synergy between government, industry stakeholders, and the public is paramount.

“Together, we can harness the transformative power of CNG, driving Nigeria towards energy security and economic prosperity.”

A logistics expert, Amina M. Abdullahi said the CNG initiative will transform transportation, cut costs, and create opportunities for all Nigerians.

She said deploying more stations will “Save over 60 per cent on fuel costs by converting your vehicle to CNG.”
