Otti Says Coscharis To Establish Factory In Aba, Shares Vehicles To LG Chairmen

Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti has revealed that Coscharis Motors, owned by renowned businessman Cosmos Maduka, is set to establish a vehicle assembly plant in Abia.

The governor disclosed this on Friday in Umuahia during the official handover of 17 brand new vehicles to the chairmen of the state’s 17 local government areas.

According to him, the vehicles were locally assembled by Coscharis Motors, which is expanding its operations to the state.

“These vehicles are from Coscharis; they were assembled in Nigeria. The Coscharis Motors Group is already in the process of setting up in Abia State. Land, I believe, has been given to them,” Otti said.

The governor described the vehicle handover as a major step towards strengthening local government administration across the state.

The keys were officially handed to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Prince Nwachukwu, who received them on behalf of the chairmen. Governor Otti also inspected and test-drove one of the vehicles at the event.

Responding on behalf of the LG Chairmen, Dr Anthony Nwaubani, Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, expressed appreciation to the governor, promising that the vehicles would be put to proper use to improve service delivery.

“We are going to use these vehicles judiciously. They are ours, and we are accountable. It’s not for a jamboree. We’re going to use them to deliver, carrying goodies to our people in the villages, so they will be part and parcel of what it is to have a democracy,” he said.

Nwaubani thanked Governor Otti, the administration, and the Local Government Commissioner for the support and prayed for continued divine guidance for the state’s leadership.
