Otti Inspects Construction Of New Governor’s Office, Others
Governor Alex Otti of Abia on Saturday, inspected the construction of a new Governor’s Office and Residence at Government House, Umuahia, the State capital.
Recall that a few weeks ago, while speaking during a Sabbath Worship at the Unity Chapel, Government House, Umuahia, Governor Otti disclosed that construction of a brand new Governor’s Office and Residence has commenced.
The Chief press secretary to Governor Ukoha Njoku Ukoha in a statement reports that Governor, accompanied by some of his friends and political associates, made an unscheduled visit to the project sites being managed by Craneburg Construction Company, after attending the burial ceremony of Dr. Ken Ukeagu’s mother, the late Mrs. Chinyere Margaret Ukeagu.
On arrival at the site, he met with the site engineers overseeing the project and engaged them in a discussion to assess the progress of the work expected to be completed and delivered next year.
The old Governor’s residence, which was abandoned to dilapidation by previous administrations, is currently being demolished to make way for a new, fit-for-purpose residence.
In addition to pulling down the old structure, the Governor has instructed that the area behind the original building be cleared to create more space to shift the new building further, while still maintaining the design of the new residence.
The Governor used the opportunity to visit the site of the new Office of the Secretary to the State Government, which is currently at the finishing stage of construction under his administration.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, expressed his joy at the sight of the impressive edifice. He disclosed that his predecessors have been reaching out to ask how he managed to construct such a befitting office complex.
The Governor also observed from a distance the brand new Government House Clinic being built by his administration.
Governor Otti later inspected the expansion work on the Umuahia-Tower Onuimo Road, which is being handled by Craneburg Construction Company under his administration.
During the inspection, the Governor interacted with some children he met on the road while on errands for their parents.
The Interactions centered on education, as the Governor wanted to ensure that children are attending school and also enjoying the free education policy of his administration, which the students confirmed they are enjoying.
While addressing a crowd of cheering supporters Dr. Otti commended the people for their support to those handling the road, apologizing for the little inconveniences they are presently experiencing because of the road construction, adding that the benefits when completed far outweigh the inconveniences.
He once again reassured the people that what they are seeing is just the beginning of good things to come from his administration.
He promised that once the major roads are fixed, he will start working on the rural access roads to improve life for rural dwellers. He expressed his gratitude for their continued support for his administration.
The Governor was accompanied to the inspection tour by the Senator representing Abia South Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, Senator Enyinnya Abaribe, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa; the member representing the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa; Abia-born business mogul, philanthropist and founder of Unubiko foundation, Chief James Ume; and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D., among others.
