Otti Insists Abia Money Solely For Govt Business

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has maintained his stance that government money must not be used for private endeavors but solely for government businesses.

While addressing attendees at the 30th anniversary of the Ministers Prayer Network (MPN) held at their headquarters in Ukwa West LGA on Wednesday, Governor Otti, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, emphasized the importance of maintaining a clear boundary between government affairs and personal dealings.

Noting a philosophy he has carried throughout his career, Otti said, “You know we have always held this discussion about running Government and separating government from the Individual. In my previous life as a banker, I always taught people, particularly business people, that you must always separate your business account from your private account.

“When you set up a business, you should treat yourself as an employee and pay yourself salaries. Don’t confuse the money in the account of the business as your personal money. They are not the same.”

“And, that is the concept that we have brought into governance. Government money is meant for government business,” he declared.

Governor Otti assured the congregation that any personal support he offers to the ministry would come from his own resources, reminding them of his success prior to assuming office.

“But, thank God we came from somewhere, we have our own money. All the things that are happening here, I can tell you that as Alex Otti and the wife, we are going to support,” he said.

Commending the founder of MPN, Rev. Prof. Mosy Madugba, for his resilience and dedication over the last three decades, the Governor encouraged individuals to have a vision, document it, and work diligently towards achieving it. He remarked, “The only way we can win is if we continue to develop ourselves.”

As part of the event, Governor Otti performed the foundation-laying ceremony for a guest house within the MPN premises, which is expected to be completed by their next anniversary. Rev. Madugba praised the Governor for his impactful leadership and led prayers for him, his team, and the state.

The event was also attended by key government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Sir Prince Uzor Nwachukwu; the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Ikechukwu Uwanna; the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Philemon Ogbonna; and the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Apostle K.C. Wiper.
