Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Security, Navy Commander MacDonald Unah (Rtd.), while handling over two Hilux vehicles to the Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Joseph Owoputi, and one operational vehicle to the Controller of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Abia Command, Mrs Justina Owe on Tuesday, August 27, 2025.

The Abia State Government has handed over two Hilux vehicles to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and one to the Nigerian Immigration Service Abia State Commands to aid their operations.

Handing over the keys of the vehicles on behalf of the Governor, at Government House, Umuahia, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Navy Commander MacDonald Uba (Rtd.), urged the agencies to make effective use of them to achieve their mandate in the state.

Uba, represented by the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, Col. Chidi Kalu Ukoha (Rtd), said, “Governor Otti holds the security of lives and property very dear and is doing everything possible to ensure that the state is very secure.

“The state government is supporting these agencies with operational vehicles in order to mitigate crime and nip it in the bud.”

The Special Adviser, who described security as the catalyst for development, stressed that no socio-economic activity can take place in an insecure environment.

He reassured them of the Governor’s unwavering commitment to assisting federal security agencies to achieve their strategic and operational aims in the state.

Speaking, the Controller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Abia State Command, Mrs Justina Owe, who said her joy knew no bounds for the gift, expressed gratitude to the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, for his kind gesture.

On his part, the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr Joseph Owoputi, expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for his timely intervention in helping them with the vehicles.

Owoputi added that they would use the vehicle provided to reduce drug abuse in the state and would leave no stone unturned in bringing crime to its barest minimum in the state.

Recall that last week, during the visit of the new Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Abia, Mr Joseph Owoputi, Governor Alex Otti promised to donate operational vehicles to him as requested.
