Otti Assures Resolution Of Boundary Dispute Between Abia, Cross River States

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, is hopeful that the ongoing boundary conflict between the Isu community in the Arochukwu Local Government Area and its neighboring communities in Cross River will be resolved soon.

The governor, speaking with reporters at Government House Umuahia on Monday, revealed that his administration had recently dispatched relief supplies to the displaced locals and other vulnerable individuals in the impacted community.

Otti noted that authorities in Cross River have shown willingness to amicably resolve the boundary disputes and expressed hope for lasting peace in the affected communities.
“Boundary disputes sometimes linger, but by the time you share a boundary, it means there is a relationship; you could be brothers and sisters, so I believe we would resolve the problem, given that the two states are favorably disposed,” the Governor said.

In May 2024, armed persons believed to be from the Ukwa community in Cross River State attacked the Isu community in the Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia. During the attack, a woman named Mrs. Blessing Kalu Elem was killed, more than ten people were injured, and livestock and other properties were destroyed.
