The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation after a young lady, identified as Bidemi Omole, died suddenly upon arriving at her boyfriend’s residence in Esa-Oke, Osun State.

DAILY POST gathered from community reports that Bidemi had gone to visit her boyfriend, identified as Yinka, on Friday evening when she suddenly fell ill.

Eyewitnesses revealed that Bidemi’s death occurred at about 9:30 pm in the Oke Esa area of the town.

A resident, who preferred anonymity, explained that the deceased showed no signs of illness before the sudden incident.

He said, “We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. By the time I arrived, there were already many people there.

“I saw some security personnel at the house, but the crowd was overwhelming and it was already late. People were visibly shaken by what happened.”

It was also gathered that the deceased was believed to have been preparing to attend a vigil that evening before her untimely death.

“She usually attends vigil on Fridays. The police have since arrested the boyfriend, and he is with them now,” another eyewitness revealed.

Meanwhile, the Osun Police Command has confirmed the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that the matter was reported to the police on Saturday.

He also explained that preliminary reports indicated that the deceased began vomiting shortly after her arrival at her boyfriend’s home.

“She was rushed to a hospital, but she died on the way.

“The death occurred on Friday. The deceased, Bidemi Omole, had gone to her boyfriend’s house in Esa-Oke. From what we gathered, she suddenly took ill,” he explained.

Ojelabi added: “The suspect, her boyfriend, is already in custody. An autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of death.”
