Osun: Dada Estate, Halleluyah town residents deny rumours of impending communal clash

Residents of Dada Estate, Olorunsogo area and Halleluyah town in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State have dismissed speculations of an impending communal crisis.

It was alleged that a crisis was brewing between the two towns following the recent coronation of the Ajeniju of Halleluyah town, Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya.

The residents dismissed the speculations circulating on some social media platforms, describing them as baseless and “lies from the pit of hell.”

The Ikolaba of Ajeniju town, Chief Kolawole Alabi, who is also a resident of Halleluyah town, explained that the installation of Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya would only strengthen the bond, harmony, and existing peace between Osogbo and Halleluyah town. He emphasized that there is no land dispute between Osogbo and Ede.

“The unfounded claims circulating online are the handiwork of some anti-progressive individuals who are desperate to cause unrest and disharmony, all in the name of politics,” he said.

He added, “The legal and moral processes that led to the installation of the Ajeniju of Halleluyah are still intact. The installation will never spark a land dispute between Osogbo and Ede.”

Chief Alabi cautioned those spreading rumors to desist from dragging Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke into the matter, let alone the two prominent monarchs, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Abidemi Olanipekun, and the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal.

“We should note that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration has zero tolerance for violence, and neither the Ataoja of Osogbo nor the Timi of Ede land would allow some politicians to use land disputes to disrupt the peace and brotherhood in their respective domains,” he added.

Chief Alabi also recalled that the coronation ceremony of Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya, Ajeniju of Halleluyah town, was attended by notable Osogbo indigenes.

He stated that the installation of Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya, Ademola I, was in line with the aspirations and yearnings of the inhabitants of Halleluyah town, and the coronation was conducted peacefully.

“Politicians who habitually use politics to incite unrest in peaceful and harmonious communities should halt such sinister missions. I also appeal to security operatives to swiftly investigate the source of these crisis-provoking rumours.”

Meanwhile, the Ajeniju of Halleluyah in Council on Thursday also dismissed the false claims by some individuals suggesting that the installation of Oba Yusuf Jelili Olaiya, Ademola I, had led to communal squabbles.
