Osimhen Scores 35th Goal Of Season To Lead Galatasaray To Turkish Cup

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored twice to lead Galatasaray to a 3-0 win over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final at Gaziantep Stadium.
It was Galatasaray’s 19th Turkish Cup trophy and their first since 2019.
Osimhen further established his importance to the team with a match-winning brace to win his first trophy in Turkey.
Baris Alper Yilmaz opened the scoring for Galatasaray in the fifth minute before Osimhen scored the second goal with a close range finish after shrugging off a defender.
He added the second goal with an instinctive finish from a stunning counterattack to make it 3-0 which all but sealed the trophy for Galatasaray.
It was also a record-setting encounter for the Super Eagles forward, who has been instrumental for Galatasaray since joining on loan in the summer.
Osimhen has now scored 35 goals in all competitions to surpass the 34-goal mark set by Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season.
He is now the highest-scoring foreign player in a single season for Galatasaray, with 35 goals in 38 appearances, overtaking Brazil’s Mario Jardel.
Osimhen has now won his fourth trophy of his career after winning the U-17 World Cup, U-23 AFCON (both in 2015), and the Serie A title in 2023.
Galatasaray will emerge champions of the Turkish League with a win over Kayserispor on Sunday to complete a domestic double for the fourth time in their history.
Osimhen has scored 24 goals in the Turkish League, six goals in the Europa League, and five goals in the Turkish Cup in his first season in Turkey.
