Opposition Cannot Defeat Tinubu In 2027, Says APC Chieftain

A former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC) in Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye, Monday, said the opposition has no capacity to defeat APC’s President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, “If elections were to be held today, Tinubu will beat them hands down.”
He spoke during the Enugu-based DreamFM’s programme, which was monitored by our correspondent.
According to him, “They are a gang-up of former members of APC or PDP who are aggrieved. Former Rivers Governor Rotimi Amaechi said he could defeat Tinubu.
“He is assuming the status that he is not. This is a man who fell flat when he faced Tinubu at the Eagle Square ahead of the 2023 presidential election. Just a few years after, he now claims that he has the key to unseat Tinubu.
“Amaechi is simply looking at becoming former VP Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.”
Nwoye argued that a common denominator among ex-VP Atiku Abukakar, Rotimi Amaechi, ex-Kaduna Gov Nasir El-Rufia as well as former Anambra Gov Peter Obi “was hatred against Tinubu and APC”.
Quoting him, “They hate Tinubu. That is all, but hatred is not an ideology. They have not told Nigerians what they can do differently. Peter Obi is over-bloated.
“He goes about telling people that he won an election which he came third in. He went to court, and the court said he didn’t win.
“He is afflicted with pains with the way social media is raising his status.
“His Obedient Movement rode on the back of the #EndSars. But it ended in 2023. The huge problem I have with Obi is that after all the successes he got through the LP, he threw them away?”
On former VP Atiku Abubakar, Nwoye stated that, “Atiku led the PDP. His immediate VP Ifeanyi Okowa joined the APC. So what is the capacity in him to manage a country when he cannot manage their political party?
“Atiku, as usual, abandoned his political party, about the fourth time he is doing so, and joined ADC. They are grandstanding that they own the party. It is not a merger. They didn’t go through the due process. They have no roadmap.”
The APC chieftain also spoke about former Kaduna Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. According to him, “I was thinking that El-Rufai is a man of principle until this latest time. How do you jump out of APC to SDP, and you remain there and tell the whole world that ADC was the party.
“Then he bailed out when he saw that the SDP was sinking. He went to ADC and wanted to outwit some. They are not in court. Nigeria is not Kaduna State.”
Nwoye advised former President Goodluck Jonathan not to run against Tinubu. In his words, “They want to disgrace Jonathan. He is a statesman. They went to wake him up, and see if they could damage the respect that he so deserved.
“If he throws his heart into this race, I can tell you that the image he has earned over the several years will be unfortunately lost.
“He will go nowhere. He will show that he is a desperate man like the rest of them.”
He said the ADC merger would not succeed because the goal of the key leaders was simply to become Nigeria’s commander in chief, but not to fix Nigeria: “They have hatred for Tinubu, and they are going to any means to defeat Tinubu.
“The good side of ADC is that it provided the aggrieved politicians with the platform to dock and anchor their anger to discuss their hatred for Tinubu and APC, but they stay clear of governance and what is happening in Nigeria.
“In APC’s merger, Tinubu gave up something and former President Buhari did the same, which ADC hasn’t got.”
