In this interview, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd, Mr Femi Soneye speaks on how the Operations and Maintenance services contract for the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) and Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) would enhance NNPC’s refining process, ensure quality through the implementation of the latest technologies.

What is the duration of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services contract for the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC) and Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC)?

It is a short and long term contract not to exceed five years.

What is the scope of work for the O&M services contract?

The O&M Contract scope of work shall cover, but is not be limited to, the long term and short-term production/operations planning, production and operations execution, monitoring, reporting and optimization of operations, maintenance planning (short term), maintenance execution, reliability and inspection, process and controls engineering, quality control, quality assurance and laboratory, specialist engineering.

It also covers health and safety, environmental management, turnaround maintenance planning and execution, non-hydrocarbon procurement, sub-contractor management, inventory and warehouse management

What are the key objectives of the O&M services for WRPC and KRPC?

To ensure consistent and sustainable refining production while maintaining the highest standards of maintenance and regulatory compliance, all at the lowest possible cost per barrel.

What is the tender process for the O&M services, and how will it be conducted?

The tender process for O&M services consists of three stage- Expression of Interest, Technical and Commercial

What systems and tools are required for the O&M services, such as the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and Warehousing Management System (WMS)?

The O&M is expected to enhance our refining process, ensuring quality through the implementation of the latest technologies, including Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and a Warehouse Management System (WMS).

Which specific activities are included under the production and operations execution within the O&M contract?

The activities encompass the scope of O&M services, covering all refining areas within the plant, including refined products from various streams such as mixed LPG, PMS, HHK, ATK, AGO, and LPFO.
