Yobe State Police Command said its operatives have arrested a 24-year-old suspected kidnapper after kidnapping a toddler in Potiskum town.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim.

According to the statement, the suspect was traced and apprehended in Kaduna State after investigation revealed his involvement in similar incidents in other states.

“The Yobe State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its efforts to maintain a secure and safe society.

“On July 31, 2025, a 2-year-old toddler, Abdulkareem Mohd, was kidnapped in Potiskum, and his father, Mohammed Ishayaku, received a ransom demand of N2 million.

“Swift police action led to the rescue of the survivor and the arrest of one suspect, Abdullahi Aliyu, 24, of Kakuri, Kaduna State,” the statement added.

The State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating crime in the state.

He urged parents to be vigilant and watchful over their children, stressing the importance of prompt reporting of incidents to the nearest police station.

“The Yobe State Police Command remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of citizens,” the CP assured.
