Oleksandr Usyk, the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion, has declared that his top priorities right now are to “rest” and spend time with his family after defeating Daniel Dubois via fifth-round knockout at Wembley Stadium.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the hard-hitting Ukrainian, 38, once again unified the heavyweight titles with a magnificent performance against his opponent, Dubois.
Using a strong right hand and a deadly left hook, Usyk defeated Dubois twice in the fifth round, solidifying his place among boxing’s greatest fighters.
Despite the demands for his next opponent — which include matches against Anthony Joshua or Joseph Parker, or possible trilogies with Tyson Fury — Usyk remains steadfastly focused on his recovery.
“Nothing is next. It’s enough. Next, I don’t know,” Usyk told DAZN in his post-fight interview. “I want to go home to my family. To my wife. My children. I want to rest. But maybe two or three months. I want to rest.”
With his recent triumph over Dubois, Usyk added the IBF title he had previously relinquished to his WBA, WBC, and WBO crowns.
Throughout the fight, he demonstrated his technical mastery, accurate striking, and elusive movement, making it clear that he was the best in the division.
Together with fellow Brits Fury and Joshua, Dubois (22–3, 21 KOs) has suffered two defeats at the hands of Usyk, who, six years ago, was the undisputed cruiserweight world champion before stepping up in weight.
