Ogun PDP backs Tinubu’s second term bid

The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition in the 2027 general elections.

The party’s state chairman, Abayomi Tella, made this know on Monday, during the official campaign flag-off of Bolarinwa Oluwole, the PDP candidate for Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

DAILY POST reports the constituency’s previous lawmaker, Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, died in January following a brief illness, and Bolarinwa is running to replace her.

Speaking at the event held at the palace of the Akarigbo of Remo, in Sagamu, the PDP chairman said the party was ready to back Tinubu despite him being from a different party.

Tella stressed that the President is a son of the South-West hence the decision to give him their votes.

He said, “We will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though he is in the opposition, let us support our own from the South-West. Our support is for Tinubu and we will stand by him. We are ready to give him our votes. The whole of the South-West will give him our votes.

“We are going to support him. We will give him our votes. All we want in that election is fair and just.”

Similarly, the party’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Ladi Adebutu, insisted that the party has no issue with the leadership and candidacy of President Tinubu.

Adebutu maintained that PDP only has issues with bad governance in Ogun State, hence the need of the party to challenge bad governance.

“I was with the President in January and I told him that we have no issue with his leadership and candidacy. We however have issue with bad governance in Ogun State, that is why we must have this platform to challenge bad governance,” he said.
