NVBF Names Elam As New Volleyball Women’s Team Coach

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has confirmed the appointment of Elishama Elam as the new coach of the National Senior Women’s Team.
The former National U19 women’s coach will be assisted by Segun Abinde, and Chinyere Onuoha.
According to Engineer Musa Nimrod, President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, there was a need to change the coaching crew due to poor performances.
He said: “Our women team did not meet expectations despite the support they got from the Federation and other stakeholders.
“This led to reforms in the technical crew that will oversee a new national team for future engagement”.
Elam was delighted at the opportunity to handle the team, while expressing his desire to change the team’s fortunes.
He said: “I am truly honored to take on this responsibility. Our goal is to take Nigerian women’s volleyball to the next level. We’ll be bringing in fresh ideas and strategies that will help elevate the team.
“We will leave no stone unturned in identifying the best players. The focus will be on selecting those who are in top form and can represent Nigeria with pride.
“Nigeria has players scattered across Africa, Asia, America and Europe; I will consult with the Board of Administration of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation to see how we can bring them and make some of them commit their future to Nigeria”.
“One of our main objectives is to organise regular training programs to ensure the players are well prepared for international competitions. This will be an ongoing effort to keep the team in peak condition, both physically and mentally.”
Elam is expected to bring his experience to bear on the team as they aim to return to the top of Volleyball in Africa.
