NSCDC To Commence Recruitment, Commissions New Office

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced plans to recruit qualified Nigerian youths into the corps in 2025.

The Commandant-General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, made this known while commissioning the newly constructed NSCDC Bwari Divisional Office on Wednesday in Abuja.

Audi stated that the corps had received approval to recruit employable Nigerians into its ranks but noted that the exact date for the commencement of the exercise would be announced in due course.

“We are preparing to recruit. We appreciate Mr. President for the approval to recruit well-behaved Nigerians into the service,” he said.

He stated that the recruitment drive is expected to provide much-needed jobs for young Nigerians seeking careers in security and public service, which will strengthen the nation’s security apparatus.

The CG said that the commissioning of the Bwari Divisional Office is another milestone in the NSCDC’s efforts to expand its operational presence at the grassroots level.

Audi commended the Bwari Area Council for the initiative, stating that the new office would enhance security operations in the area.

“The corps is proud of you and poised to cooperate with you. We will give you all assistance in reciprocation of your action,” he assured.

He also urged other area councils to emulate Bwari and Kwali, both of which have provided new office buildings for NSCDC operations.

In his remark, the NSCDC FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, emphasised the importance of local administrative support in strengthening security efforts.

He highlighted the role of community synergy in tackling security challenges and improving operational efficiency.

“In this job of ours, where security of lives and property is our preoccupation, the importance of strengthening grassroots administrative and operational activities cannot be overemphasised,” Odumosu said.

He added that the Bwari chairman had shown exceptional commitment to supporting the NSCDC, making the new office a reality.

He further assured that, with the improved facility, additional personnel and resources would be deployed to the division.

Speaking earlier at the event, the Bwari Area Council Chairman, Dr. John Gabaya, expressed appreciation for the NSCDC’s efforts in enhancing security within the council.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by security agencies and pledged continued support for their operations.

“We have seen the fulfillment of this objective, which is why we have committed significant resources to this project,” he stated.

Gabaya noted that the previous office had existed for over 25 years in suboptimal conditions, which make this new development a significant achievement.

He commended the NSCDC for its role in tackling insecurity in Bwari and across the Federal Capital Territory, particularly in combating kidnappings.

“Our people can now sleep with their eyes closed. We are grateful to the security agencies, and I pray God will grant you all that is required to defeat the criminal elements,” he said.

The chairman also appealed to the NSCDC Commandant-General to allocate employment slots to the six area councils within the FCT, and suggested that each council be given between 30 and 50 slots in the upcoming recruitment exercise.

“The insecurity issues will come to an end. We, the six area council chairmen, have agreed that insecurity will be a thing of the past. We appeal to the NSCDC CG to give employment slots to each area council, even if it is 30 or 50 slots each,” he urged.
