Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has nabbed a man for alleged impersonation and obtaining money from members of the public under false pretence.
The 28-year-old man, identified as Bless Johnson, is being held for allegedly swindling victims of a total sum of N9,085,000.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer for the Adamawa State Command, DSC Nyako Baba said in a statement Tuesday that the suspect was reported to the NSCDC Divisional Office in Mubi which immediately took up the matter.
“Acting on credible intelligence and coordinated efforts, officers tracked and arrested Johnson on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Timbokum village, Ganye Local Government Area,” the PRO stated.
According to him, “Initial investigations indicate that the suspect defrauded at least nine individuals, extracting several millions of naira by falsely promising political appointments, job placements, and assistance with international travel.”
Records show that the total N9,085,000 was deposited into his account by victims, the PRO added
“During investigation, Johnson refunded N1,120,000.00 to some victims,” Nyako Baba revealed, explaining that the suspect executed his scheme by obtaining contacts of prominent personalities and luring victims with fraudulent offers.
He said full investigations had been launched to determine the extent of Johnson’s activities and other accomplices involved.
