The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four suspects for alleged economic sabotage and other criminal activities in the state.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, the State Commandant, Mr. Adedoyin Keshinro, stated that the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to rid society of crime and protect public property.

Keshinro disclosed that among those apprehended was a 29-year-old truck driver from Osun caught vandalising a DAF truck he was hired to drive.

He said the suspect, along with two accomplices—a 28-year-old scrap dealer from Kano and a 48-year-old vulcanizer from Osun—was arrested around the Guinness axis of Ikeja on January 27 at about 9:00 AM.

The commandant stated that the trio had allegedly dismantled the truck and attempted to sell its parts as scrap.

In a separate operation, NSCDC operatives arrested a 28-year-old man from Adamawa for an online scam operation.

He noted that the suspect had been using fake payment receipts to defraud unsuspecting victims.

Keshinro said that complaints from two victims led to his arrest, but other members of the syndicate remain at large.

According to the commandant, investigations revealed that the scammers frequently used fake bank alerts and impersonated military personnel in camouflage to deceive and intimidate their victims.

The suspect was also found to have used multiple phone numbers to deceive victims, including 07061467078, 09027162617, 08142648467, 08024686757, 07087007106, and 07042963628.

Keshinro urged the public to be vigilant and avoid business transactions with unknown individuals.

He also warned vandals and criminals to cease their illegal activities or face the full force of the law.
