NSCDC Gets New Zonal Commanders In Benue, Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of Mr. Solomon Iyamu as the new Commandant of its Zone ‘H’ Command Headquarters in Makurdi.

The command’s spokesman, Mr. Ameh Obekpa, confirmed this on Tuesday, saying that Iyamu assumed office as the 11th substantial zonal commander.

Obekpa said the deployment follows the redeployment of Mr. Nwannukwu Cyprian to Zone ‘K’ Command Headquarters in Awka, Anambra State.

Before his new role, Iyamu served as the Zonal Commander of Zone ‘K’ in Awka. As a seasoned officer, he joined the NSCDC in 2005 as an Assistant Superintendent of Corps I (ASCI) and rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Commandant General in 2021.

Iyamu over the years held various leadership positions. In 2018, he served as the Commandant of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and later as the State Commandant in Ekiti State.

By 2021, he had assumed the role of Commandant, Anti-Vandal, at the National Headquarters. In 2022, he became the Assistant Commandant General in charge of the Logistics and Technical Department at the National Headquarters in Abuja.

He is also a fellow of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), and has completed its prestigious course in 2016.

“Iyamu has held many positions since his commissioning as an officer. In 2018, he was appointed Federal Capital Territory Commandant and later redeployed to Ekiti State as a substantive State Commandant.

“In 2021, he was appointed as Commandant, Anti-Vandal, National Headquarters and later an Assistant Commandant General in charge of Logistics and Technical Department, National Headquarters, Abuja in 2022.

“Iyamu participated in the 2016, National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) course, Bwari Abuja, where he earned his honour as a fellow of the Institute”, he said.

Upon assuming office in Makurdi, Iyamu stated the importance of discipline and collaboration to enhance the Corps’ effectiveness.

“Every officer must be ready to work at all times to ensure the protection of lives and properties within the zone while fostering stronger partnerships with host communities and local unions,” Iyamu stated, according to Obekpa.

He also pledged to improve emergency response times by investing in personnel training and equipping officers to address diverse challenges effectively.
