NSA Urges Plateau Communities To Prioritize Peace Over Violence
Following the recent wave of deadly attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, on Sunday said that the federal government is intensifying efforts to restore security and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The NSA’s visit to Plateau comes in the wake of deadly assaults by armed militias that left over 20 residents dead.
The attacks, which occurred within one week, began in Mongor village and spread to Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai communities.
The Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed the scale of the tragedy stating that the communities had lost more than 20 members to the “marauding terrorists.”
Ribadu visited the Headquarters of Operation SAFE HAVEN as part of an operational tour of the affected areas.
He said his trip was on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, who mandated the prompt restoration of normalcy to the troubled region.
Addressing the security threats, Ribadu assured the residents that the “federal government will ensure all arrested suspects in connection to the recent attacks are brought to justice.”
He, therefore, affirmed that the improvement in the security setup will be sustained to deliver more operational successes in the country.
In a statement by the Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Samson Zhakom, the NSA commended security agencies for their swift and effective response in containing the violence and urged residents of Plateau “to prioritise peace, and learn to live together as one”.
He also called on the media to exercise due diligence and uphold transparency while reporting sensitive security matters.
