NPHCDA, ICPC Begin Nationwide Assessment Of Primary Healthcare Centers
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), has commenced assessment of the ongoing revitalisation of primary healthcare centres across the country.
NPHCDA disclosed this on its official X handle on Thursday. It said the joint assessment is to promote transparency, accountability and value for money of government spending.
Revitalisation of primary health care is the process of strengthening, improving and renewing primary health care systems, services, and infrastructure, with the goal of enhancing the delivery of essential health services, making them more accessible, equitable and effective.
In March 2025, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammadu Ali Pate, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, to ensure effective utilisation of funds meant for the health sector.
Also, THE WHISTLER reported that the Federal Government on Tuesday, May 20, launched an initiative that includes the nationwide deployment of 774 Performance and Financial Management Officers.
The move seeks to strengthen accountability, efficiency and service delivery within Nigeria’s primary health care centres.
The NPHCDA boss, who flagged off the initiative, said the development aligns with President Tinubu’s health transformation agenda.
