NPC sets up panel to review sacked Hisbah officers
The Director General of the National Productivity Centre, Dr. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, has launched a 44-member panel to screen about 1,000 former Hisbah officers said to have been dismissed by the Kano State Government.
During the inauguration in Kano, Dr. Dan Agundi said the panel’s work is to verify those affected and recommend whether they should be reinstated or reassigned.
He explained that the move followed earlier directives from former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is also a former APC national chairman.
Dr. Dan Agundi urged members to be fair and transparent, stressing that only genuine cases would be considered.
“We will work day and night to carry out Dr. Ganduje’s directive,” he said, emphasizing the urgency of the process.”
The dismissal of the Hisbah officers had stirred public concern, with calls for a review of the decision.
The Hisbah Corps plays a key role in upholding moral conduct and Islamic values in Kano, making their removal a sensitive issue.
The committee is expected to present its findings and recommendations soon, which could shape the next steps in resolving the grievances of the dismissed personnel.
