North-East APC Endorses Tinubu/Shettima For Second Term, Cites Tangible Progress
The North-East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for a second term in office, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made on Sunday during a high-level consultative meeting held in Gombe State.
The gathering, which brought together governors, top party officials, and influential stakeholders from across the North-East geopolitical zone, was aimed at reaffirming party unity, reviewing progress under the current administration, and setting the tone for the next electoral cycle.
Present at the meeting were Governors Babagana Umara Zulum (Borno), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), and host governor Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), as well as APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Deputy National Chairman (North), Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori.
In his keynote address, Governor Zulum extolled the performance of the Tinubu-led administration, noting that despite daunting economic and security challenges, the government has made commendable strides in key sectors.
“This administration has shown that it is possible to lead with purpose, reform with courage, and unite with compassion,” Zulum said.
“The North-East is solidly behind President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima because the results are visible,” the governor declared.
Zulum cited improvements in healthcare delivery, educational reform, fiscal discipline, and inclusive social programmes targeting women and youth as evidence of a government focused on impact rather than rhetoric.
“The ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda is not a slogan. It is the most ambitious and inclusive national development plan we have seen in recent times. What we need in 2027 is continuity—not experimentation,” he added.
In his remarks, Buni echoed Zulum’s sentiments, emphasizing that the region has benefited significantly from the current administration’s policies, particularly in the areas of security and infrastructure.
“Under the Tinubu-Shettima leadership, we have seen real investment in roads, schools, and rural electrification. The renewed focus on security has brought hope to communities that were once under siege,” Buni stated.
He also applauded the administration’s youth engagement programmes, which he said are beginning to curb unemployment and restiveness among young people.
“The APC government has rekindled national confidence. It is only logical that we continue with a leadership that is delivering results,” Buni said.
Also speaking at the stakeholders meeting, the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, praised the unity displayed by North-East leaders and called on party members across the country to emulate their commitment to the party’s vision.
“The APC remains committed to inclusive governance, national development, and grassroots engagement. The endorsement today is not just about politics—it is about the future of Nigeria,” Ganduje said.
He urged party faithful to begin early grassroots mobilization and to promote the achievements of the Tinubu/Shettima administration in their communities.
The leaders unanimously agreed that the path to a stable and prosperous Nigeria lies in political continuity, and they appealed to citizens across regions and political divides to support the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in 2027.
“We are not endorsing for the sake of loyalty alone,” Governor Inuwa said. “We are endorsing based on performance, vision, and proven leadership. The next four years can build on this foundation and truly transform Nigeria.”
The endorsement by the North-East is a significant early boost for President Tinubu’s expected re-election bid, especially given the region’s electoral weight and the influence of key stakeholders like Vice President Shettima.
