NOA cautions against hate speech over Kebbi hospital viral video

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, in Kebbi State has cautioned citizens against resorting to hate speech and unpatriotic remarks while reacting to a viral video of patients in a flooded ward at Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi.

The State Director of NOA, Alhaji Muhammed Nasir-Karofi, issued the warning on Friday, stressing that while citizens have the right to demand accountability from leaders, such engagements should be conducted with civility and respect.

“Governance is a continuous process. Constructive criticism helps leaders respond more effectively to citizens’ needs, but mockery, insults, and hate speech only serve to divide society and weaken our collective ability to solve problems,” Nasir-Karofi said.

He urged community leaders, religious figures, and parents to caution their members and children against promoting hate speech, particularly on social media.

Nasir-Karofi added that the agency would intensify sensitisation campaigns to promote unity and patriotism while also encouraging government institutions to respond promptly to genuine public concerns.
