No Fatalities In Abuja-Keffi Crash Involving Dangote Trailer
A road accident involving a J5 sachet water truck and a Dangote trailer happened on Monday along Abuja-Keffi Expressway in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to a press release by Nkechi Isa, Head of Public Affairs at the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), no lives were lost in the incident.
However, the driver of the sachet water truck sustained injuries and has been hospitalised.
“No life was lost to the incident. The J5 driver however sustained some injuries and has been taken to the hospital,” Isa said
She noted that the crash happened when the J5 driver applied his brakes suddenly upon sighting road maintenance personnel working by Karu Bridge.
The Dangote trailer, which was behind the J5, reportedly rammed into the water truck and caused traffic disruption.
According to Isa, personnel from FEMD and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) responded promptly to manage the situation.
An eyewitness, Grace Peter, told our THE WHISTLER that “the accident happened on Abuja-Keffi road, not exactly at Karu Bridge, and it caused a serious gridlock. I saw officials of the FRSC trying to bring the situation under control.”
The accident comes two months after many lives were lost following a gas tank that exploded at Karu bridge along Abuja on March 20.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially around ongoing roadworks in the area.
