No consensus can unseat Tinubu, he has Buhari’s 12m votes – Okechukwu to ADC
A foundation member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Osita Okechukwu, on Sunday, told the African Democratic Congress, ADC, that no consensus can unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Okechukwu made the remark while noting that the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has resolved to support Tinubu and oblige him a huge chunk of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s 12 million vote-bank in the forthcoming 2027.
He spoke while briefing members of the CPC at Eke, Enugu State on the meeting of the group with Tinubu.
When asked about his take on the statement credited to the aADC leadership that there is national consensus to unseat President Tinubu in 2027, he dismissed it saying the subsisting national consensus is the rotation of President from North to South and vice versa.
He said: “The truism is that the majority of Nigerians both partisan and non-partisan adopted the national consensus that Presidency should rotate from the south to north and vice versa. This is the subsisting convention instituted in 1999 by patriots, a golden milestone of the 4th Republic for equity, justice and fairness.”
Going further he dubbed those who migrated from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to ADC as Internal Displaced Politicians (IDP) who are desperate power grabbers and advised them to go back and fix the PDP, they destablised.
Okechukwu alleged that IDPs are the ones who regrettably are crafting one party state by continuously breaching the rotation convention and unwittingly blaming President Tinubu for their unforced error.
He rhetorically asked, did Tinubu direct them to breach the rotation convention and Section 7 of the PDP Constitution in 2023 and today?
Okechukwu said he was at a loss as after more rational leaders of the PDP penultimate week publicly proclaimed zoning the president to south, saying, ”one thought that the ADC clan should come to terms that it is in the collective interest of all Nigerians to observe the subsisting rotation convention.
Okechukwu lamented that ”instead of adopting rotation convention consensus as a pragmatic model, ADC goons are in endless blame game, with intent to bury the immutable rotation convention, a glue which unite our polarised country.
“Please don’t mind the IDPs who after destabilising our sister political party, the PDP, became desperate power grabbers and today oiling ethno-religious levers and blaming President Tinubu for their unforced error.” Okechukwu retorted.”
Okechukwu repeated his thesis that Tinubu will have a “huge chunk of Buhari’s 12 million Vote Bank saying the northern electorate they hinge their permutation on are one of the most sophisticated in Nigeriay.”
“ADC banks on the northern electorates as if they are quartered in a dormitory for picks at the whims and caprices of IDPs, it is a mirage, because they are one of the most sophisticated electorates in our dear country,” he said.
