Houston: The Minister of State Gas, Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo has said that the Bola Tinubu administration is confident that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC) will boost production in the Nigerian oil and gas sector through strategic investments.

The minister said this at a dinner organised at the sidelines of the CERAweek by S&P Global in Houston, Texas, USA.

The remark comes as the United States government made a bold commitment at the opening briefing of the Ceraweek to support hydrocarbon production and cancel all unfavourable climate policies of former President Joe Biden.

The US Energy Secretary, Chris Wright revealed the Trump administration’s plans “To produce more” and build the “infrastructure to move it to market.”

Speaking at the dinner, Ekpo said the Tinubu administration is confident in the state-owned company’s ability to attract foreign investors in the oil and gas industry.

The gas minister said, “I really commend the Nigerian National Petroleum Company for always being dependable in their outfit, representing Nigeria wherever they find themselves.

“I commend all of you, and I thank God for the sector and for you making it to this important CERAweek. I invite all of us to be active for the very reason why we are here.”

According to Ekpo, the NNPCL has been dependable and has continually acted as a lifeline for government revenues and development of the country despite intense push for energy transition.

He said the NNPC played a crucial role in not only representing Nigeria’s interests in the global energy sector but also in contributing to the country’s economic growth.

“I believe that at the end of it all, we have something or good stories to tell about our participation in this ceremony,” Ekpo said.

He added, “I appreciate the NNPC’s leadership for always being there for our dear country and Nigeria.

“I appreciate the EVP, Upstream, EVP, Gas and Power and Senior officers of NNPC for this wonderful time.”
