Nkunku Agrees AC Milan Move
Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku has agreed to join Italian Serie A giants AC Milan from Chelsea on a permanent transfer.
The French forward joined Chelsea from Leipzig in a deal worth £52 million in 2023, but a spate of injury problems and lack of consistency have made him surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Nkunku is now set to end his two-year stay at Chelsea to team up with AC Milan.
He wrote on X: “Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan, here we go! Deal verbally agreed in principle between the clubs.
“AC Milan and Chelsea are set to prepare documents today, and fees will be in the region of €35m with add-ons. Nkunku said yes to a 5-year contract yesterday, as revealed.”
Nkunku scored 15 goals and recorded five assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup in July.
AC Milan have been in the market for attacking reinforcements since the beginning of the transfer window, and a deal for Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface fell through due to medical concerns last week.
Nkunku started his career at PSG in 2015 before moving to Leipzig in 2019; he enjoyed his best spell in Germany.
He was the first player in the club’s history to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League.
He won the 2021–22 Bundesliga Player of the Season award after scoring 20 times and assisting 13 goals in 34 league games.
In the 2022–23 season, he scored 16 goals in the league to finish as joint top scorer along with Niclas Füllkrug.
Seventeen players have left Chelsea this summer, bringing in around £270m, with the likes of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, Djordje Petrovic, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu, Armando Broja, Bashir Humphreys, Mathis Amougou, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli, Renato Veiga, and Carney Chukwuemeka departing the club.
Chelsea has sold 11 players for transfer fees in the summer window. Noni Madueke joined Arsenal in the most expensive sale so far.
AC Milan suffered a disappointing start to the 2025-26 Serie A season last weekend with a 2-1 defeat at home to Cremonese on Saturday.
Next up for Max Allegri’s team is a clash against Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare on Friday.
