Nine die, seven injured in Borno auto crash – FRSC
At least nine people died, while seven others sustained injuries in a fatal road accident along the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway on Friday.
The Borno Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr Usman Muhammad, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Maiduguri.
According to him, the accident involved a Toyota Hummer bus belonging to Borno Express and a commercial trailer.
He disclosed that the victims include five adult males, one adult female, two male children, and one female child.
“Eight passengers died on the spot, while one later died at the Specialists Hospital in Maiduguri, where the injured are currently receiving treatment,” Muhammad said.
He expressed condolences to the families of the victims and noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
The sector commander also advised motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.
