Nigeria’s Power Generation Hits 6,003MW, Says FG

The Federal Government on Wednesday announced that the country’s power sector has achieved an unprecedented milestone as the country’s available power generation reached a record 6,003 megawatts (MW), the highest in its history.

This achievement was announced by the Ministry of Power, marking a significant step toward ensuring a sustainable and reliable electricity supply for Nigerians.

In a statement issued by Bolaji Tunji, the Special Adviser on Strategic Communication to the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, the nation also recorded a peak generation evacuation of 5,801.84 MW and a daily maximum energy output of 128,370.75 megawatt-hours (MWh) within the same period.

Tunji said the milestones reflect Nigeria’s ongoing reforms and the federal government’s commitment, under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, to address the country’s energy challenges and boost economic growth.

“These achievements are not just numbers; they represent a brighter future for Nigeria, where businesses can thrive, households can enjoy uninterrupted power supply, and the economy can grow sustainably,” he said.

He added that these records are a testament to the dedication and strategic reforms spearheaded by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the Ministry of Power’s efforts to optimize the nation’s energy infrastructure.
