Abuja District Superintendent of Assemblies of God Nigeria, Rev. Emeka Eze

The Abuja Central District Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Emeka Eze has charged Nigerians and believers to be thankful for the year 2024 amidst rising prices and Nigeria’s economic hardship.

Dr. Eze, who doubles as the resident pastor of Assemblies of God International Worship Centre, Gwarimpa, made the call on Sunday.

Speaking on the theme, ‘Praise, Your Winning Ticket,’ the clergy charged believers and Nigerians to learn the habit of praise and thanksgiving despite the situation they face.

The clergy admitted that things may not be working as expected in the country. He alluded to the country’s economic hardship, spiritual issues, and other problems affecting both believers and non-believers.

Eze said the prices of goods and services may be unfavourable to Nigerians, he however enjoined believers to be thankful amidst hardship and hope for the best.

Nigeria’s inflation rose to 34.6 per cent in November, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) which a is 28-year high.

The food component of the consumer price index (CPI) hit 39.93 per cent in the same month.

But Eze encouraged Nigerians to avoid complaining, adding they should “avoid people who constantly complain.

“There are people all the time you see them frown and when you ask them, they blame it on the country and government. When you go to some workplaces like banks, some cashiers you see them always frown but they won’t resign.

“Stop gathering people that are always angry around you. They always see pressure and what is not good.

“Some will say they just came from the market and the prices of everything are rising, can we survive in this country?”

He urged Nigerians to be thankful to God and be steadfast in their endeavours, adding it is a vital condition for them to succeed.

He added, “Sometimes, you may not build a house when a bag of cement is N10,000 but when it is N20,000, God will help you build houses.

“If a bag of rice is N100,000, God will still give you food to eat; for he said I will supply your needs according to his riches inn Christ Jesus.”
