1. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission has imposed a fine of N766,242,500 on Multichoice Nigeria for breaching the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDP Act). According to the NDPC, an investigation into Multichoice’s operations in Nigeria began in the second quarter of 2024 following reports of suspected violations of subscribers’ privacy rights and the illegal cross-border transfer of Nigerians’ personal data.
2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the Nigerian Army and other security agencies a clear marching order to decisively confront and defeat terrorists, bandits, insurgents and separatists threatening the peace and unity of the country. Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima in Kaduna on Sunday, Tinubu charged the military to rise to the occasion without hesitation.
3. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of its mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), held on Saturday, June 28, 2025. In a statement on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board confirmed that results for 11,161 candidates who sat for the mop-up exam have been released out of the 96,838 who were scheduled to participate.
4. Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has reaffirmed his ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election, denying speculation that he may team up with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as running mate. Obi said suggestions that he was considering to be Vice-presidential candidate under Atiku again or any other candidate were not true.
5. No fewer than 21 people lost their lives in a road crash that occurred along the Zaria–Kano highway on Sunday morning. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident, which took place around 8:23 a.m. at Kasuwar Dogo in the Dakatsalle area, involved a DAF trailer with registration number GWL 422 ZE and a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number KMC 171 YM.
6. Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has dismissed speculation that he would lead five other governors to the African Democratic Congress. In a statement by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor described the rumour as unfounded and baseless fabrication by unscrupulous elements seeking relevance, affirming his unalloyed loyalty to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

9. The suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has declared her intention to resume legislative duties in the Senate on Tuesday, following a Federal High Court judgment that voided her suspension and ordered her immediate reinstatement. But while the lawmaker prepares to return, the Senate says it will take no official action until it receives and reviews the Certified True Copy of the judgment delivered on July 4, 2025.
10. A police inspector, Donfa Chirtip, has been killed and his wife, Victoria, abducted at Kurmin Kare in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, made this known on X on Saturday.
