Nigerian Army, Navy Strengthen Ties To Curb Oil Theft In N’Delta
In a move to bolster inter-service cooperation in the fight against crude oil theft, the newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, paid a courtesy visit to Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Central Naval Command, (CNC) Rear Admiral AA Gaya, at the CNC headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
According to a statement published on Navy Social media handle, the visit marked a crucial opportunity for both commanders to engage in constructive discussions focused on enhancing collaboration and exploring effective strategies to fulfill their respective mandates within their areas of responsibility.
At the meeting, Maj Gen Emekah officially informed Rear Admiral Gaya of his recent appointment as GOC of 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The meeting highlighted the importance of inter-service cooperation and coordination between the Nigerian Army (NA) and the Nigerian Navy (NN), noting that by fostering a strong working relationship, both services can better address security challenges and promote national interests.
The courtesy visit, The Whistler reports, is a testament to the Nigerian military’s commitment to strengthening ties between its various Forces.
Similar efforts have been made in the past, such as the Nigerian Army’s workshop aimed at enhancing collaboration between the military, media, and security agencies.
The Nigerian Navy has also been actively engaged in promoting national security, with President Bola Tinubu recently commissioning three warships and two helicopters as part of the Navy’s 68th anniversary celebrations.
