The federal government has announced plans to strengthen housing finance and accelerate the delivery of affordable homes through a public-private partnership (PPP) framework.

This initiative aims to bridge Nigeria’s housing deficit and foster collaboration between the government and private sector investors.

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, disclosed this ahead of the upcoming Renewed Hope PPP Summit, scheduled in Abuja.

The announcement, made via the ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) page, underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging private sector expertise and resources to drive housing development.

Dangiwa emphasised that the summit will serve as a strategic platform for engaging key stakeholders, including investors, policymakers, and housing finance institutions, on innovative solutions to enhance housing delivery nationwide.

“At the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, we are prioritising public-private partnerships (PPP) to expand financing opportunities and accelerate the delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Housing and Urban Development,” Dangiwa stated.

As part of the summit, the Ministry’s PPP Unit will unveil a technical framework designed to facilitate structured partnerships between the government, private developers, and financial institutions.

The framework is expected to streamline investment inflows, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and enhance efficiency in housing projects across the country.

Nigeria’s housing deficit remains a pressing issue, with millions of citizens in need of affordable and quality housing. The adoption of a PPP model aligns with global best practices, ensuring that both public and private sector stakeholders contribute to sustainable housing development.

The Renewed Hope PPP Summit is anticipated to generate actionable insights and foster investment commitments that will significantly impact Nigeria’s housing landscape, reinforcing the government’s drive to provide accessible and affordable homes for its citizens.
