Nigeria Police investage 151 top officers for various offences
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring discipline and integrity within the Nigeria Police Force.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the IGP stated this in Abuja, as 151 senior officers faced the Force Disciplinary Committee over various allegations of misconduct and professional infractions.
The disciplinary proceedings, which began on Monday, July 14, will run until Friday, July 25, 2025, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He declared that his administration would not tolerate any form of indiscipline or misconduct, regardless of the rank or status of the officers involved.
He said, “The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to promoting integrity, professionalism, and public trust.”
The statement said the disciplinary process reflects the Force’s keenness to maintaining an accountable and service-driven institution, where standards are upheld and the rule of law is respected from within.
It said the move was to enforce internal accountability and reinforce professional standards, adding that the officers, drawn from various commands and formations across the country, were being subjected to a “thorough and transparent review process” in line with existing police regulations and disciplinary procedures.
It said the officers under scrutiny are of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.
“The Force Disciplinary Committee is an essential internal structure responsible for reviewing and adjudicating cases of alleged breaches of professional conduct, misconduct, and ethical violations,” the statement read.
He said the outcome of the hearings would be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for final decision on the appropriate sanctions or exonerations, in accordance with the law.
